A Strike Team isn't a Task Force?

🚒 I know these terms were being thrown around during the 2025 California Palisades & Eaton wildfires. They are also used during hurricanes a lot, basically when extra assistance or relief personnel is needed. For those of us in the first responder / emergency management industry, these terms have specific meanings.





🚑 These teams fall under the Operations Section Chief which is part of the Incident Command System (ICS) structure. The picture below shows how the span of control trickles down to the teams level. If you'd like to learn about how that structure system works you can take the FEMA online independent study class IS-100 for an introduction.
